The New Route
American Airlines · New York JFK to Nice, 2027
One of the most significant developments is the launch of American Airlines' new direct New York JFK–Nice service. Beginning 6 May 2027, American will operate the route daily through the summer season with its new Airbus A321XLR, a long-range narrowbody aircraft configured with 155 seats.
The Airbus A321XLR · a new transatlantic standard
American Airlines is the first US carrier to operate the Airbus A321XLR, having introduced the aircraft to its fleet in summer 2026. The A321XLR is a next-generation long-range narrowbody designed specifically for routes like Nice — long enough to need the range, lean enough to make a thinner market viable with daily frequency.
For passengers, the aircraft offers high-speed Wi-Fi, a free entertainment system with Bluetooth audio connectivity, and the quieter, more fuel-efficient flight that comes with a modern single-aisle jet. The route is American's second service to the Côte d'Azur, after Philadelphia–Nice, which has operated since 2024.
With this new flight, Nice Côte d'Azur Airport will have four direct connections to New York alone — Delta and American from JFK, and United and La Compagnie from Newark — making summer 2027 the most convenient season on record for New Yorkers travelling to Monaco and the French Riviera.

Air Canada · Toronto to Nice, from 16 June 2027
For Canadian travellers, 2027 also brings a significant new direct connection. Air Canada launches a new direct Toronto Pearson–Nice service on 16 June 2027, operated twice weekly (Wednesdays and Saturdays) through 23 October 2027 on an Airbus A330-300 featuring Air Canada Signature Class, Premium Economy and Economy cabins. The flight takes approximately nine hours and twenty minutes.
The Toronto–Nice route joins Air Canada's long-running Nice–Montreal service — now in its second decade of operation — to bring Nice's total direct connections to Canada to three. Air Canada's Toronto hub also offers onward connections to more than 250 destinations across Canada, the United States, Latin America and the Caribbean, which means the Toronto–Nice flight is useful not only to Torontonians but to travellers from across Canada and much of the Americas.
