Red Clay & Royal Skies: A Guide to the 119th Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters

The European clay-court season is officially ready for its grand unveiling. From April 4 to 12, 2026, the eyes of the sporting world will turn to the iconic red courts of the Monte-Carlo Country Club. Following the initial ATP Masters 1000 events in the United States, this historic tournament—first founded in 1897—returns to the Principality, promising a week of unmatched elegance and world-class tennis.

Recently, Tournament Director David Massey and President Melanie-Antoinette de Massy officially revealed the entry list, and the lineup is nothing short of spectacular.

A Global Phenomenon in the Heart of Monaco

Much like the Formula 1 Grand Prix or the Monaco Yacht Show, the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters transforms the entire Principality. Last year alone, the event drew over 150,000 spectators and reached 34 million viewers worldwide.

This year, the tournament continues its tradition of excellence with the support of title sponsor Rolex, alongside returning partners like Maserati, Emirates, and Champagne Lanson. We are also excited to welcome new partners Rummo and PokerStars to the 2026 roster. For those watching from home, the coverage will be more immersive than ever, with full broadcasts on Eurosport, France Télévisions, and international giants like Sky and The Tennis Channel.

The Elite Field: 18 of the Top 20 Are Coming

The 119th edition boasts one of the most competitive draws in years. Out of the world's top 20 players, 18 are expected to compete, including 9 of the current ATP Top 10. The main singles draw will feature 56 players, while 28 doubles teams will battle for glory.

Keep an eye out for these headliners:

  • Carlos Alcaraz (No. 1) – The defending champion looking to cement his clay-court legacy.

  • Jannik Sinner (No. 2) & Novak Djokovic (No. 3) – Both chasing the crown.

  • Alexander Zverev & Stefanos Tsitsipas – The latter a three-time champion.

  • Daniil Medvedev, Casper Ruud, and Taylor Fritz – All ready to challenge for their first Monte-Carlo title.

The Local Hero: Valentin Vacherot’s Historic Rise

One of the most compelling storylines of this edition is the resurgence of Monegasque tennis. Following in the footsteps of doubles stars like Romain Arneodo and Hugo Nys, Valentin Vacherot has become a beacon of pride for the Principality.

Since his sensational breakthrough at the Shanghai Masters 1000, where he became the first Monegasque player to reach a main tour final, Vacherot’s trajectory has been historic. His rise in the ATP rankings has earned him a direct entry into the 2026 main draw. Local fans are eager to provide a thunderous atmosphere for Vacherot as he prepares for this tournament and the crucial Davis Cup tie against Finland later this year.

A Modernized Experience

The tournament continues to evolve. While the players enjoy an expanded Players’ Village at the Monte-Carlo Beach Club—complete with a new 320 m² gym—spectators will enjoy a redesigned village and a dedicated relaxation area.

Technologically, the event is pushing boundaries with HawkVision. This system uses 60 unified digital cameras to provide television viewers with a breathtaking angle from directly behind the baseline, while Electronic Line Calling ensures every shot is judged with absolute precision.
